When a job classification study was completed and approved by the Board of Education in 2015, several clerical job classifications were combined for CSEA positions. One of those positions is the current office assistant position. Elementary schools are allocated office assistant hours to help with general clerical and customer services tasks. The district and CSEA met to review the allocation of these hours at our elementary schools given that the combined office assistant position is relatively new and that these allocations have not been reviewed for many years. When reviewing these allocations, factors such as elementary school enrollment, student demographics, and staffing levels were considered. Based on this review, the district and CSEA determined that some sites were understaffed, some were staffed appropriately, and some were overstaffed relative to each other. It was also determined that the annual work year calendars needed to be realigned to be consistent across our elementary sites. Accordingly, the district and CSEA are recommending the following staffing levels for office assistant support at our elementary schools (in hours per day): Garfield: 6 hours Jefferson: 9 hours Madison: 6 hours McKinley: 7 hours Monroe: 6 hours Roosevelt: 6 hours Washington: 6 hours Wilson: 9.5 hours It is also recommended that these positions move to the 190 day work year calendar. When implementing these changes, no current employees will be negatively impacted in terms of hours or work year calendar, and any potentially negative changes to employees (such as the shifting of work year calendars) will be "grandfathered" in once positions become vacant.

The regulations of the Williams lawsuit settlement require school districts to complete “Quarterly Complaint” reports that document the number of complaints for textbooks and instructional materials, teacher vacancies and misassignments, and facilities conditions. Additionally, effective January 2008, as a result of settlement with the California State Department of Education, districts are required to implement the Valenzuela Settlement Legislation (Assembly Bill 347). Notification regarding the complaint process is integrated into the Williams Complaint form which is posted in every secondary classroom as required. For the period of April - June 2016 the District did not have any complaints.
