The proposals shall be presented at a public meeting of the public school employer and thereafter shall be public records. The purpose for this hearing is to inform the public that the San Leandro Unified School District intends to reopen negotiations with the Teamsters Union Local No.856/Alameda Building Trades Council for the 2017-18 school year based on the agreement reached with them during the 2016-17 school year. Imagine Learning provides strategic first-language support in 15 languages and English Language Development to facilitate and enhance English Learner language acquisition as a means to increasing both language proficiency and academic achievement. This instructional software program will support our English Learners as a supplemental program within our blended learning suite as students practice vocabulary, syntax, reading, speaking, and fluency. As students become more proficient in English, this language support gradually fades, preparing students for English-only academic environments and overall improved success in school.

September 17-23, 2017 marks the celebration of the 230th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. The United States Constitution stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties and freedoms and to ensure those unalienable rights to every American. The tradition of celebrating the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the US Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The aims of the celebration are to: - Emphasize citizen's responsibilities for protecting and defending the Constitution.
- Inform people that the Constitution is the basis for American's great heritage and the foundation for our way of life.
- Encourage the study of the historical events which led to the framing of the Constitution in September 1787.
Constitution Week is a great time to learn more about this important document and celebrate the freedoms it gave us.

Our district has an existing five year contract with Ray Morgan Company (RMC) to provide and service copiers and printers at all sites. Last spring, the Governing Board approved the purchase of all leased RMC equipment. The purchase results in the district only being responsible for the service portion of the contract, which represents a savings of about $250,000 per year. RMC has provided an updated contract to the district with a cost of $12,713.50 per month for service and repairs. The contract is adjusted annually based on copier and printer usage. As of June 1, 2017 there were 27 months remaining on the RMC contract. The current proposal extends the 27 months by an additional two years (total of 51 months) at the current rate for service. Because the equipment will be up to seven years old at the end of the term, this is a very good deal for the district.

Our district uses Laser Fiche software for both electronic document management as well as simplifying the hiring process. We have used Ray Morgan Company (RMC) to provide the Laser Fiche license for the past three years. The current contract with RMC expires in October. The district has been looking at other vendors who would be able to help us become more efficient and maximize the capabilities of Laser Fiche. ECS Imaging, Inc. is the vendor used by the City of San Leandro as well as several K-12 districts. ECS has provided the district with the attached quote which represents a $1,300 annual increase over the RMC contract. However, this quote includes 20 hours of remote technical support and unlimited phone support.

The SLUSD occasionally has the need for administrators to perform work that is outside of the scope of their regular assignments. For example, there are times when site administrators are asked to assist with implementing district initiatives during their summer break. Staff is recommending that the Board of Education approve a standard hourly rate for administrators performing this type of work. The recommended rate is indexed to the hourly rate for elementary principals (enrollment under 800 students) at step 5 on the SLUSD Certificated Administrative Salary Schedule, which is currently $84.16 per hour.
