تحديث من مدير المدرسة

Greetings James Monroe Community,

This is principal McNeil with an update.
Happy Monday. We are at the start of a fun week at Monroe. We have Student Council Elections, Fall Festival, and our Annual Halloween Parade (including a Thriller Dance by 4th and 5th graders!)
There are lots of opportunities to help and support, so please read all the information closely! Also please reach out if your child needs a costume! Also do not forget that we have a Care Closet with essentials that are available for free to all our families. Stop by and check it out. You can find out more info by asking Ms. J or Ms. Watkins. We also make special purchases if/as needed for individual families. We are here for you! Don't be shy!!

Thank you to everyone who did an amazing job selling candy! Candy money is officially due to the office. Please turn your money in ASAP so we can order prizes!!

Students running for Student Council Officer Positions will be doing their speeches for the 3rd-5th graders tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 27th, starting at 10:00am in the MPR. Parents are welcome to attend (if your child is running for office.) The speeches will be short and the assembly will be quick overall. Students will vote tomorrow afternoon, and Officers will be announced at the end of the school day.

Thursday, Oct. 29th, in the Parent Room at 8:15am, is our School Smarts Graduation. If you have been attending School Smarts this year, don't miss your final session and the Graduation!

Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, at 6pm, is our next PTO meeting, and we will be combining it with our Title 1 meeting. Please come, 6pm in the MPR to be a part of PTO, and also learn about our school as a Title 1 school. Being a Title 1 school means that a large percentage of our students are low income and English Learners. This means we get Title 1 money (which is distributed by our School Site Council, SSC.) This is also election day, so if you haven't already voted, make sure to do that before you come to the meeting! 😊 😎

Wednesday, Nov. 4th, every child at Monroe will select a warm coat. We have been chosen by Operation Warm and Accenture, to be the recipient of this gift of warm coats for every student. We are truly thankful for their kindness and generosity towards our community. A warm coat will help students feel able to attend school, even as it gets cold outside! Our kids will be cozy this winter!

Mark your calendars: Thursday, Nov. 12th we will host a Family Dinner/Social Hour for our families of students with special needs (students with IEP's.) We will provide dinner and childcare from 6-7:15pm. Come meet other families, and make connections with the families of the kids in your child's class and in the other classes. Come share some challenges and some successes. Come be an inspiration to other families and share your knowledge and experience. We hope to see you for dinner on this special night.

Monday, Nov. 2nd we will have a small Dia de Los Muertos celebration. We will pass out Bread of the Dead from a Mexican bakery and we would love to have items displayed in a community altar. Dia De Muertos celebrates ancestors who have passed on. You can send photos or items that represent your loved ones who have passed on. Please send items to be displayed to Ms. J. Do not send anything super personal or valuable.

Have a wonderful week. Don't forget to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you want to share with me. Working together we can truly make things great for our kids!
