CA Dashboard Data for Madison 2026

Dear Madison Families,

Yesterday, San Leandro Unified shared the 2026 California School Dashboard results, highlighting districtwide growth in English Language Arts and mathematics, along with improvements in graduation, attendance, and suspensions.

I also want to share what the Dashboard tells us about James Madison Elementary.

Madison’s story reflects both progress and continued work.

We are proud that science remains a strong area for our students. Chronic absenteeism decreased again, which means more students are in school consistently and ready to learn. Our suspension rate also dropped significantly, moving from Orange to Blue on the Dashboard.

We are also encouraged that our English Learner Progress moved from Red to Yellow. More of our English Learners are making progress toward English proficiency, though we still have important work ahead.

At the same time, mathematics moved from Green to Yellow this year, and our data show that some student groups are not yet experiencing the same level of academic success as the school overall.

That is why we do not look only at the Dashboard colors.

The colors give us a snapshot of performance and how it changes over time. The student results help us understand who is thriving, who needs more support, and where we need to focus our work.

For Madison, our next steps are clear. We will continue strengthening literacy and mathematics instruction, expanding targeted support for English Learners and students with disabilities, improving attendance, and making sure every student has access to strong instruction and meaningful opportunities to learn.

We are proud of the progress our students are making, and we are equally committed to the work still ahead.

Our goal is not simply a better Dashboard color.

Our goal is for more Madison students to meet grade-level expectations, feel successful at school, and have the support they need to grow.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us.
