Atualização da Direção

Greetings James Monroe,
This is principal McNeil with an update.

Please be respectful and do not leave your car unattended in the loop. This is a courtesy to maintain safe and efficient morning drop off. Please do not leave your car unattended in the loop. The loop is closed in the afternoon for pick up. That is why there are cones in the loop in the afternoon. Thank You! Also, please do not park in our neighbors driveways. Please leave the neighbor's driveways clear and unobstructed. Thank you! This is for safety and courtesy to our community and neighbors. It is not legal to park in their driveways, or to obstruct their driveways. Some of our neighbors are elderly and need direct access to their driveways 24 hours. Thank you for respecting our neighborhood and our community.

This Friday, Oct. 23rd, 6pm in the MPR, we are celebrating Latino/Hispanic Heritage month at Monroe! We have been getting ready all month for the big fiesta!!
You can still sign up to bring food (or just bring it.) We will also show a slide show representing different countries and cultures, and it will also feature our students and families. Please send photos that we can use in our slide show. Photos of your country, celebrations, your family, etc would be wonderful. Send them to Ms. J or Ms. Watkins. And don't forget to wear your traditional clothing to show off those beautiful outfits in our Monroe Fashion Show!
During the day this Friday, we hope everyone will wear traditional Hispanic/Latino cultural outfits for the school day, to get ready for the evening festivities!

Wednesday, Oct. 28th we will be prepping for our Fall Festival. We need parents and families to come help us! We will work from about 5-7pm, preparing for Fall Festival. Pizza provided! Meet at the Monroe MPR. We still need candy donations (thanks to everyone who has been sending in candy.)

Monday, Nov. 2nd we will have a small Dia de Los Muertos celebration. We will pass out Bread of the Dead from a Mexican bakery and we would love to have items displayed in a community altar. Dia De Muertos celebrates ancestors who have passed on. You can send photos or items that represent your loved ones who have passed on. Please send items to be displayed to Ms. J. Do not send anything super personal or valuable.

PTO is November 3rd, 6pm in the MPR. Come join the fun!! We had lots of parents out at our last meeting, and we hope you all come back and bring a friend!! We will be discussing our chocolate sales, and planning our Read-a-Thon! There are lots of ways to be involved at Monroe. PTO is a great, low key way to meet new people, and help the school. I hope to see you at our PTO meeting!

Wednesday, November 4th, each Monroe student will be able to choose a new warm coat. This program is through Operation Warm, and our school is sponsored by Accenture. We are lucky and grateful to have been selected to receive these warm coats. You will receive a permission slip (on Monday) for photos only. If you agree to have your child's photo taken, please send in the permission slip. Every child will choose a coat.

Thank you all for being truly amazing. Even when things are hard or we are dealing with hard topics, you guys stay committed to your kids and our school. We love your kids and we love you! If there is anything we can help with, let us know. Don't forget we have our Care Closet with all kinds of items that can help your family finances. We have free toiletries, clothes detergent, clothes, shoes, food (snacks,) etc. WE ARE HERE TO HELP!

Love,
