Madison's Family Weekly Bulletin! Smash the Heart to show you read this message!

Dear Madison Families,
November is California Healthy Kids Survey month at Madison, and we want to hear from you!
Each year, Madison families show up in a big way. Traditionally, more parents participate in the California School Parent Survey at Madison than at many other schools, and we hope to continue that strong tradition this year.
Your voice matters.
The California School Parent Survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives about our school. Your feedback helps us better understand what is working well, where families may need additional support, and what we should consider as we plan programs, services, family engagement opportunities, and student supports.
We do not want to make decisions about our school community without hearing from the people who know our children best: you, our families.

And yes, there is a little extra motivation! 🎉
To encourage as many Madison families as possible to participate, we will hold a drawing for three $50 Amazon gift cards.
That means three Madison families will each have a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card for participating in our survey collection.
Please take a few minutes during November to complete the survey. Every response helps us build a clearer picture of what our families experience and what our community needs as we plan for Madison's future.
Let us know when you have completed the survey: Form!
Our goal is not simply to collect responses. We want to hear from as many voices across our Madison community as possible.
Thank you for continuing to show up, speak up, and partner with us. Your feedback helps us make Madison stronger for every student and every family.
With appreciation,
Our Madison Student Council is leading a Food Drive from November 2 through November 16, 2026.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to practice leadership, service, and care for others in our community.
Families who are able to participate are invited to donate unopened, nonperishable food items such as:
• Canned vegetables and fruit
• Canned beans and soup
• Rice and pasta
• Cereal and oatmeal
• Peanut butter
• Boxed meals
• Shelf-stable snacks
Please check expiration dates before donating and do not send opened items.
You may bring donations to school between November 2 and November 16.
Thank you for helping our Student Council turn Mustang leadership into action. Every donation, large or small, helps our students see how working together can make a meaningful difference for others.

With growing concerns about immigration enforcement in California, we want to make sure families know where to find clear, trusted information about their rights and the protections in place for students and families at school.
The California Attorney General’s Office has created a Know Your Educational Rights guide for students and families. The guide explains important protections for children attending California public schools, including that students have the right to attend public school regardless of their family’s immigration status.
SLUSD is a Safe Haven and Sanctuary District.
San Leandro Unified School District has affirmed its commitment to protecting students and families through its Safe Haven and Sanctuary District resolution. District schools and programs are intended to remain welcoming and supportive places for students and families, including those affected by immigration enforcement.
SLUSD procedures also require that immigration-related requests involving access to students, school areas, or student information be handled through school and district administration and reviewed according to district procedures. School staff do not independently provide access to students or confidential student information in response to immigration enforcement requests.
Please make sure your Parent Portal information is up to date.
One of the most important things every family can do now is review the information listed for your child in the Parent Portal.
Please make sure we have:
• Current parent and guardian phone numbers
• Current email addresses
• Up-to-date emergency contacts
• The names of adults authorized to pick up your child
• Your current home address
• Your preferred language for school communication
This information is important every day, but it becomes especially important during an emergency or unexpected family situation. We need to know who we can contact and who is authorized to care for or pick up your child if we can't reach a parent or guardian.
Families may also want to create or review a family preparedness plan. Children should know which trusted adults they can turn to, who may pick them up from school, and what the family plan is if a parent or guardian is unexpectedly unavailable. Please list anyone who may need to pick up your child as an authorized contact in the Parent Portal.
The Attorney General’s family guide also reminds families that schools should protect confidential student information and that families have rights regarding access to public education and school records.
